The Genre Accountability Coalition (GAC) was a coalition of various SCPFs and GoIs that emerged in response to the Aurentha controversy.[1] Its primary goal was to bring attention to questionable actions by individuals and groups without imposing undue authority over other SCPFs. Previous attempts at unity, such as SCP Verses, had faltered due to their pursuit of authoritative roles within the genre. The SCPF community expressed reluctance to be governed by a third party lacking clear grounds for punishment. In cases involving investigations of individuals including Aurentha, the hope was that allied groups would collectively support one another and blacklist individuals/groups when justified. This would result in harsher sanctions against blacklisted users. Unlike similar initiatives, GAC aimed for a professional and official demeanour.
Actions
GAC was responsible for the genre blacklist of Aurentha, TheeDeer, and the Thunder Scientific Corporation.[2] They also planned to blacklist SCI - Pathos III, but the coalition shut down beforehand.[3]
Downfall
GAC quickly started to degrade as many smaller SCPFs saw their alliance as an opportunity to grow their group. After the Aurentha drama, many SCPFs enabled rank transfers from Pathos to their group, trying to recruit players leaving Pathos due to the drama. From then on, some of the SCPFs attempted to push a genre blacklist on Pathos for any (even small) breach in contract, to try to get more rank transfers.
On 7 April 2024, Metably defended himself against the accusations brought by the GAC. As a result, the GAC voted to terminate their investigation of Metably.[4] However, on 9 April 2024, Metably requested to join the GAC, which B_earded immediately objected against.[5] Furthermore, information in confidential channels were shown to be leaked from Metably's response to B_earded, which resulted in B_earded announcing his decision to leave the GAC. This resulted in a chain reaction, in which a majority of the participating groups withdrew from the coalition.[6] A vote followed the incident, and due to a unanimous 6-0 internal vote, the GAC shutdown. However, this was not announced until 5 May 2024, and the server was deleted on 12 May 2024.[7]
