The Scientific Department[1], more commonly known as Science Department, is an independent and civilian department that takes place in SCPF: THETA, and acts as the primary focus for all things related to anomalous research, and investigation into the secrets of the unknown, on Research Cavern Orion, it has been with the foundation since the beginning, and has served as one of the larger civilian departments within the Foundation for some time since 2018. It has an Overseer that represents it on behalf of all civilian departments, and features primarily on-site based duties, and off-based duties alike. This department in particular specialises with utilising our Class-D Resources onto the testing on Anomalies in Research Cavern Orion.
Structure
This department features a standardised rank structure that involves the basic rank structure of a normal department with "Research" attached as a prefix for all ranks, in addition to this, each rank has its own features that make the department function as intended and are integral to departmental operations, such as the basics of employees, command, executives, and directorate.

Research Database
Being one of the primary recordkeeping databases, they utilise a Google Site for the usage of the database, which allocates all currently available, and known SCP-based data and information pertaining to a specific topic on a given anomaly, individuals may utilise this, and reference it as both a database for anomalies, and guideline for upcoming researchers that are within the department. The database is upheld by the Scientific Department, and its command staff. The usage of the database was originally established by Grydor following the establishment of Research Cavern Orion in July 2024, the database currently serves as the administrative hub for all things related to the department that can't be managed by the kanban system.
Personnel Restriction
Although the Scientific Department is one of the most important bodies of the Foundation for both activity and engagement, there are some restrictions that have been placed by other departments to prevent personnel from being in both departments at the same time to prevent informational overlap, and overlap of duties, this allows for individuals to effectively do their jobs as intended without leaking information unnecessarily, being able to restrict personnel from: Anomaly Acting, Lore Team, and LAMBDA-5.
